I work as an editor of a healthcare journal in central London. My husband, Chris, loves eating the food I make most of the time and he is very good at eating my failed experiments!
My love of good food is heavily influenced by my parents who introduced me to fine dining (with a trip to Heston Blumenthal's The Fat Duck for my 21st birthday) and their insatiable appetite for experimenting with food. Part of the reason they branched out from the usual English "meat and veg" when I was growing up was my brother's dairy intolerance and my mother's various food intolerances (her intolerance to wheat being the most impactful). My brother is now also vegan, which has encouraged me to try lots of interesting foods, such as nutritional yeast. Although I can't say I've adopted nooch (as it is fondly referred to) in my own kitchen, I do regularly enjoy tofu and endeavour to post vegan recipes for his benefit.
Perhaps as a result of my biology degree, I find the process of making food intriguing and enjoy making things from scratch to find out how they work. Then I like to experiment with the recipe, with varying results!
I'd love to receive comments if you have made one of the recipes I have posted, or have experimented with it - let me know if you have a variation or recommendation that I should try. You can contact me directly by emailing jezthefez [at] gmail.com (jezthefez has become my online persona... it's a long story!)
